FJ: What led you to create your company?
NHOM: The desire to bring organic, fresh food and quality supplements to our community and teach people why and how to live in a healthier way.
FJ: What was your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?
NHOM: Offering something needed and good to a small community and maintaining quality control of what we were providing.
FJ: What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
NHOM: The freedom of creativity and the ability to try new things at our own pace.
FJ: What are three of your company’s goals?
NHOM: Starting a community garden, offering more regular classes and workshops, and having more of an online side of the business for those who prefer to shop from home.
FJ: What challenges have you encountered?
NHOM: Our greatest challenges have been in being new business owners and learning as we go.
FJ: What thoughts would you give to others who have similar aspirations?
NHOM: Spend more time educating yourself about business and talking with someone experienced before starting out to be better prepared for what you are taking on.
FJ: What are your responsibilities as the business owner?
NHOM: Managing schedules, paying bills, finding new products, putting in orders, receiving orders, pricing items, maintaining inventory systems.
FJ: Why will customers stay or do repeat business with you?
NHOM: We aim for great customer service, fair prices, and offer many unique products.
FJ: How do you market your business, and which tactics have been most successful?
NHOM: We have used Facebook, Instagram, a few newspaper ads, fliers, and had a booth at a few events. It seems like social media has been the most successful.
FJ: What is unique about your business?
NHOM: Besides being an organic market, we offer many choices in local handmade art and gifts. We are also in a shared space with an organic cafe.
FJ: Who inspires you?
NHOM: I am inspired by the people who want to do good things for the community they live in, especially those who put action behind their words.
FJ: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
NHOM: Be passionate about what you do and do not let the day to day stresses take that away.
